Less than a month till Bramble and Patches' 1st birthdays!!!!!!

Image
Hi readers, as the title tells you it is less than a month till my lovely little piggies have their 1st birthdays which is crazy. Patches' birthday is on the 20th and Brambles is on the27th(these are roughly when their birthdays are because we don't know exactly.) I will do a post on each of their birthdays with pictures from throughout the almost year I have had them. Some will be of just Patches and some will be of just Bramble on the actual day's. If you can't wait you can go through my posts from when I first started. Some for now: "It's too big Patches!" "I'm sure I can eat this in one big bite" "Hello" "I'm a little capybara" "Sorry to burst your little capybara bubble Bramble but you actually a guinea pig" "I'm so cute and pretty" I hope you liked the pigtures and the update, Book Worm:)

My guinea pigs diet

Hi readers, todays post is on your guinea pigs diet. I thought this would be a good post as I haven't done one since I started and my guinea pigs diet has changed. There are 4 different parts of a guinea pigs diet and my guinea pigs get all of them. The most important part of any guinea pigs diet is HAY. Hay is sun dried grass and there are quite a few different types like Timothy, Meadow and Alfalfa. Bramble and Patches have Meadow hay and sometimes for a treat I buy a bag of Timothy. Next it is VEGETABLES. Vegetables provide most of the essential vitamins and minerals that guinea pigs need. The ones that Bramble and Patches get most often are : Carrot, Lettuce, Fine green beans, Spinach, Bell pepper and Baby leaf salad. When buying veg for your guinea pigs always check that they are allowed to eat it. The next food is PELLETS. Pellets are a pretty big part of any guinea pigs diet, especially in the winter and any other colder months. There are loads of brands of guinea pi

How to change your guinea pigs food

Hi readers, I thought this would be a good post to do at the moment as I'm changing the piggies pellets. The first thing that you have to think about is why are you changing their food? If  the pet shop, rescue or previous owner gave them muesli food it is a good idea to change it unless they were feeding pellets as well. Guinea pigs are quite fussy when it comes to food so you will want to gradually introduce the new food over a period of 10 days or more depending how much of the old food you have left. The best Guinea pig pellets to choose are ones that are recommended by vets like Burgess Excel and Supreme Science Selective. If your local pet shop makes its own pellets compare the ingredients and price to a commercial brand like the ones I mentioned above. Generally the more expensive it is the better it is for your pet.   What's the best way to change your guinea pigs food? The best way to change your piggies is to introduce it over 10 days a little bit at a time wi

How can I let my guinea pigs run around without it being dangerous? 3 ideas.

Hi readers, I thought this would a brilliant post today as lots of people keep guinea pigs indoors and mine live in a garage(with no cars). Idea number one. Buy a puppy play pen or a good sized run. Some types of indoor runs are made of fabric with fabric bases but personally I would avoid these. Idea number two. Use folded up cardboard boxes to block off areas you don't want your pet to go. You can also use cushions, newspapers and boxes to block off gaps. Idea number three. Get a HUGE cardboard box and use it like a run. I hope you find this useful, Book Worm :)
