DIY Cuddle cups

Image
Hi readers, I recently made a new cuddle cup for the piggies because they nibbled the old ones until they had holes in and I had to throw them away. I found this DIY on Crafts, Cavies and Cooking You can visit it here . Instructions:  I started with the following pieces, each cut from batting, fleece and cotton material: 11inches square for base pieces and 44inches long for strips round the outside. I treated the layer of cotton and batting as a single piece of fabric, stitching all of the seams through both layers.  The batting should go on the wrong side of the cotton material.  Then, right sides together, stitch the short ends of the strips together with 1/4" seam to make a loop. Stitching the sides to the bottom is like stitching a binding to the edge of a quilt.  I find sewing straight edges easier than curved edges, but there are corners to deal with. Next step:  stitch the cotton/batting bottom to the sides.  Mark the center of the dip and the middle of on

What type of hay should I feed my Guinea Pigs?

Hi readers, todays post is a very important one as 80% of all guinea pigs diet is hay. Hay type number one is Timothy. Timothy hay is quite expensive but the best value I have found is grown in Scotland and for £22 for 10kg for 2013 timothy hay or £19.50 for 2015 timothy hay  Click here to go to Timothy Hay UK. Hay type number two is Meadow. Meadow hay is the easiest to find as most pet shops will have it. Meadow hay has a variety of plants in it so guinea pigs will chose their favourite bits! Hay type number 3 is Alfalfa. Alfalfa is not recommended for regular use due to a high calcium content but is fine for young guinea pigs and nursing females, and occasional use. Hay type number 4 is farm hay. Farm hay is easiest to buy in large quantities as it is cheaper than pet shop hay. It is often just ordinary grass that has been dried. My local farm shop only charges £1.90 for a good sized bag so it is better value to get it from a farm. I hope you found this post helpful, Book

Bramble and Patches daily routine spring 2016

Hi readers, Bramble and Patches' daily routine has changed again now they are full time in their hutch and I like to keep you updated on it so I decided to do this post. Between 08:00-10:00am They get uncovered, fed their oat and grass seed mix and Patches gets her walk. Between 12:00-13:00pm They get veggies and cuddles. Between 18:00-19:00 They get their pellets, hay and they get covered up. This routine changes day to day and I cuddle them at different times each day. As the light lasts longer they wont be covered as early and at weekends I spend longer out with them. If it's raining Patches doesn't have a walk but she gets a longer one the next day if it's not raining. They also get time in the run if it's not raining. I hope you like my piggies daily routine, Book Worm:)

Tricks that Bramble and Patches know:) and how to train your guinea pigs to do some of them!!

Hi readers, I recently have been training Bramble and Patches to do some tricks. I will also tell you how to train your guinea pigs to do them too.                                                                                        Bramble's tricks: Beg, Jumping onto my lap, Coming too say hello, Paw and Being cute(I know its not really a trick but it is funny). Patches' tricks: Beg, jumping onto my lap, Coming to say hello, Climbing onto my boot, Paw and Being cute. The easiest trick to teach your guinea pig from when they are babies is....Coming to say hello! This can be done by making sure you handle them every day or stroking them. It is nice when your guinea pigs come too see you when you walk past they are in their hutch, cage or run. You can also get great photos when they come to say hello! The next trick is jumping onto your lap when they are sat next to you. This is a good trick if your guinea pigs don't like being picked up! To do this trick
