Tricks that Bramble and Patches know:) and how to train your guinea pigs to do some of them!!

Hi readers, I recently have been training Bramble and Patches to do some tricks. I will also tell you how to train your guinea pigs to do them too.

Bramble's tricks: Beg, Jumping onto my lap, Coming too say hello, Paw and Being cute(I know its not really a trick but it is funny).

Patches' tricks: Beg, jumping onto my lap, Coming to say hello, Climbing onto my boot, Paw and Being cute.

The easiest trick to teach your guinea pig from when they are babies is....Coming to say hello! This can be done by making sure you handle them every day or stroking them. It is nice when your guinea pigs come too see you when you walk past they are in their hutch, cage or run.

You can also get great photos when they come to say hello!

The next trick is jumping onto your lap when they are sat next to you. This is a good trick if your guinea pigs don't like being picked up! To do this trick your guinea pig needs to be sitting right next to you. To encourage your guinea pig use treats or vegetables. As a command I use the word up and a gently tap their back leg as a signal for them to go up onto my lap.

The next trick is Begging. Most people don't think guinea pigs to be able to beg because normally it's Dogs who beg. To get your guinea pigs to beg hold a food item above their head and they should stand on their hind legs with their front paws tucked in. Like when they say hello you can get good photos like the photo above and these:
Patches begs more than bramble that's why all of these photos are of her!!

A grassy treat can encourage them.
The next trick is paw and this a bit like a dog shaking a paw. This is pretty simple, you put your hand behind their front leg and they should lift up their paw and put it on your hand. They probably won't do this trick if you only say paw.

The last trick is climbing onto your boot or shoe. This is a good trick if you want to pick up your guinea pig. The easiest way to do this is to put some food on your foot and gradually move it up until they are fully on your shoe.

I hope you try these tricks with your  guinea pigs,

Book Worm :)
