Hi readers! I thought it was about time i did an updated guinea pig diet as the girls diet has changed a lot recently. EVERYDAY: MORNING Maisie: 1/8 cup of natures touch guinea pig food and hay if she needs it. Bramble and Patches: 1/4 cup of natures touch guinea pig food along with hay if they need it. They also all get fresh water if needed. EVERYDAY: EVENING Maisie: If she has finished her mornings food she gets either a 1/8 of a cup of burgess nuggets (whilst i have some) or some oats and sunflower seeds. She also normally gets a hay cookie (sometimes i give her one in the morning instead) Bramble and Patches: As with Maisie if they have finished their morning food they will get some nuggets or oats and sunflower seeds. The occasionally get a hay cookie. EVERY OTHER DAY: ANYTIME I try to remember to give them some veggies every other day. It is normally a mix of: carrot, bell peppers, kale and aubergine (eggplant). As well as all of this they get treats occasionally.
What animals do I work with at the farm? And what jobs do I do with each animal?

Hi readers! I thought I would do a more farm related post for a change. 1. Cows, they are the main animal at the farm and have to be kept happy and healthy. The main job is feeding them, this does take some time as we have well over 20 cows. As well as feeding them we have to muck out the yard and lower barn from their poo. Every now and again we also have to get them into the cattle crush to do TB (Bovine Tuberculosis) tests with the vet, worm them or tag any calves that haven't already. Simmentails Abby Kylie M (angels calf) Katie Royal (abbys calf) Angel Jessie Jay (abbys calf) Jelly Tot (lauras (RIP) calf) Julianna Belted Galloways Galloway (mum) Panda (last years calf) Fester (this years calf) Hereford Crosses Jackie Georgina George Clooney (georginas calf) Bourbon (Jackies calf) Others Daisy Storm (daisys calf) Star (one of galloways calves. Steer) Misty (one of daisys calves. Steer) Ruby Rose Gemma Rose (Ruby Roses calf) 2. Sheep,

Hi readers! I decided to do this post as I have been giving my guinea pigs more things to do to keep them happy and healthy. 1. Give them a hay pile. Guinea pigs love to hide in hay and they can also eat it. It is messy but your piggies will absolutely love it! 2. Scatter forage around their cage. This encourages your guineas to move about and gives them a variety in their diet. 3. Put their veggies on a kabob. This will keep them occupied for ages and you can get them that attach to the side of cages and ones that go on the floor for your piggies to roll around ( HAYPIGS! Piggy weightlifter is my personal favorite ) 4. Give them fleece beds. This is a great idea especially in the winter as the fleece will help them stay warm. Maisie has the HayPigs! piggy crash pad and loves it. Bramble and Patches have a rattie angels hammock that I got at the national pet show . 4. Get a subscription box for your guinea pigs. I normally get a Bunnies That Lunch box for them as the ra

My story with animals

Hi readers! I thought I would do my story with animals. Hello, my name is Mo. I am 15 years old and I am CRAZY about all animals (except insects!) I got my first pets when I was 6. They were 2 rabbits called Beaver and Buttons. They were mine and my big sisters Christmas present. Sadly, I was too young to take care of them properly and I got bored of them quickly, so my parents had to help look after them. Once I reached 8, I got more interested in taking care of them. This really made me want to work with animals. When I was 10 Buttons (my rabbit) died. I was very sad and I feel disappointed that I don't have many memories of him. He died in September 2012 A while before Buttons died, I asked my parents for some pet fish, so when buttons died they let me get some. I got the tank as a Christmas present and then I got 5 fish. These were my first pet fish. I had 2 small fantail goldfish and 3 minnows. Sadly one of the goldfish didn't last long and died within a few months

Hi readers! I asked for questions on my YouTube channel and I thought I would put them on here as well. DJ Diamond Q: How long have you been blogging/vlogging? A: I have been blogging since October 2014 and I started vlogging in April 2017. Q: How old are the pets? A: Bramble, Patches, Rocky and Flopsy are all 3, Maisie is 2 and Angel is 7 and a half months (8 on the 1st of June 2018). Miss Emma Q: How long have you been doing YouTube? A: Since September 2016. Q: What is your favourite dog breed? A: Long haired german shepard/Alsatian. Simply Rae Q: How often do you exercise your animals? A: Rabbits have access to their enclosure all the time. Guinea pigs run around their cages and shed and are put out in runs when the weather is nice. Angel gets 4 30-40 minute walks a day and plays in the house and garden. My mum Q: You already have lots of pets, but if you could have any pet you liked, what would it be? A: A gecko or a tortoise. Piggies world Q: If you could
How to keep Guinea Pigs and Rabbits warm in the winter

Hi readers! Many of my readers in the UK have snow at the moment so I thought I would do a post on how to keep our small pets warm. Tips 1. Give them lots of straw to burrow in. 2. Increase their food (example: my guinea pigs are on 1/8 of a cup of nuggets normally so I am giving the 2/8-3/8 of a cup instead) 3. Increase their root vegetables and leafy greens. 4. Cover them at night to stop the cold going in. 5. Put bubble wrap or thick socks over their water bottles to stop them freezing. What if you don't feed nuggets? If you don't feed your small pets nuggets, but do feed them pea flakes, or a food mix, increase it just as you would do with nuggets. If you can get to a pet shop, buy some high quality hay, nuggets or Readigrass to give them some extra energy and weight (in the winter it is better for them to be overweight than underweight). Indoors or outdoors? It is better to keep small pets indoors during the winter but if you have family members who are allerg
How to weigh a guinea pig(s) and why it is important

HI! Sorry I haven't posted for a while! I had a bit of a writers block and as most of you will probably know I now have a Labrador puppy called Angel (but she doesn't act like one!). Why weigh your guinea pig(s) Weighing them is a good way to find out if they are ill. Guinea pigs are prey animals so they try to hide when they are ill and when most guinea pigs are ill they lose some weight. It is also a good way to make sure they are not overweight as like many small animals, it is very easy for them to get overweight. Guinea pigs don't need vaccinations so they only go to the vet when needed unlike rabbits, dogs and cats. This means they are not weighed regularly at the vets. So weighing at home is a great way to tell if they are healthy and also useful if they need to go to the vet so they can see their normal weight. It is also useful for working out how much mite treatment to use! What you will need Scales (kitchen scales or baby scales are best) A notebo
Bramble update

Hi readers, Bramble has had a few problems recently that I wanted to share with you. So a few months ago (Ok so not that recent. To be precise it was in June) I noticed she had a lump but didn't take her to the vet as it was very small. Fast forward a month and it was substantially larger (around the size of a grape and a half) so I took her to the vets and she (the vet not bramble) said it was a benign cyst and due to the risk of the anesthetic it wasn't worth the risk of operating. The vet said to weigh her wheekly to make sure she isn't drastically loosing weight (I haven't actually weighed her! Oooops! But I have no scales...hmm should probably buy some. Ok going off track here!) and make sure she is eating enough. A few weeks later...... We took Bramby to a diffrent vet, on the advice of the guinea pig magazine experts, and they said it's a tumor and it would be better to remove it sooner rather than later. We decided it would be better to get it removed,

HI!!!!! Here is Patches updated profile. Patches NAME: Patches Age: 2 and half (ish) Breed: Sheba mini yak type thing Colour: Tortoiseshell and white Favorite food: Lettuce Least Favorite food: Courgette Patches was my first guinea pig. Her personality is crazy and she is very bossy towards Bramble (her cage mate). When I got her she was only 10 wheeks old and was SUPER fluffy. She is always hungry and loves being out on the grass when possible. FUN FACT When I was going to get a guinea pig I thought I wanted a boy, but when I went in to Pets At Home a week before I was going to get one, I got to hold Patches and knew she was the one I wanted. Unfortunately I couldn't reserve her, but luckily no one else had bought her when I went in to get my guinea pig. Also, when I got her, I called her Patch but then changed it to Patches. I hope you enjoyed learning a bit more about my little fluffball! Book Worm :)

Hi readers! Here is the Boris update for June! And I have included some photos of a few of the other animals at the farm. Boris This photo is from a few weeks ago when I held him. Boris is doing well and is getting better at being held and picked up. As I only see him once a week it is always a highlight! As you can see I gave him fresh food as it had been raining and all of his food had got very wet (his nuggets looked disgusting!) Chickens and ducklings Also, last week I held a a chicken and a duckling. The chicken was about the same size as a small rabbit and the duckling was a runner duck. The duckling was soooo fluffy and lives with 2 other ducklings. The chicken was really small and very easy to pick up. It lives with a few other chickens. In the pen behind where the red bowl is there is a quail that we raised from an egg last year. One of the dogs?! The lady who owns the farm has three dogs: Alfie (Jack Russel Terrier. Age 10), Bella (Retired racing Greyh

Hi readers! I have not got another guinea pig but Boris is a guinea pig I help take care of once a wheek. Name: Boris Age: Around 2 years Breed: Abyssinian mix. Personality: Shy Colour: Tortoiseshell and white Likes: Freshly picked grass and watching the ducks Dislikes: Being handled and having his claws trimmed I go to a farm once a wheek and recently they moved Boris from their other site to the site I go to. He is a Pets At Home adoption centre guinea pig so he is a rescue guinea pig. He is very cute but quite shy and doesn't like to be handled so he needs taming just like I did with Maisie. Just like Patches he likes to have everything on his terms and will squeal if he doesn't like what you are doing. Like most guinea pigs he likes to eat what he shouldn't (like leaves off the trees!)! He does live on his own but just like Maisie he is fine with it and he can watch the other animals (ducks, chickens and humans!). Yesterday I took a bag of Homemade

Hi readers! So this morning I noticed Patches had white spots on her ears (it's useful having a guinea pig with black ears!). So I booked her a vet appointment. It turns out she has a bit of a fungal infection so they gave us some stuff (forgotten what it is called!) to put on her ears twice a day. she has to be isolated for a wheek(!) so the others don't catch it. She was very well behaved at the vets (surprisingly!). Also they weighed her and she is 950 grams. This photo is her white spots on ear so you know what to look for on your guinea pigs. Happy for veggies! CUTIE!!!! On the way to the vets. I will keep you updated if I can! Book Worm :)
